Bruce J. Michaels, M.A.

Bruce Michaels has been involved higher education for more than 25 years, focusing on Student Life. In 1979 he earned his Master of Arts degree in Student Development/Higher Education Administration from The University of Iowa and subsequently worked at his alma mater as Operations Manager of the Iowa Memorial Union before coming to UNCG more than 20 years ago. As Assistant Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs, Mr. Michaels has administrative responsibility for Campus Recreation, Multicultural Affairs, Student Life (Aycock Auditorium, Elliott University Center, Campus Activities, Student Involvement), Student Affairs Capital Projects and Technology.

Stan Gajda

Stanley Gajda earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in English from The Ohio State University, where he was linked into Sphinx, the highest honor a student can receive there. He also holds a Master's degree in Higher Education Administration from Bowling Green State University in Ohio. He is presently pursuing a Ph.D. at UNCG, specializing in leadership and organization development. As an Assistant Director in the Office of Student Life, Stan coordinates training and development programs for student organizations. He also serves as a diversity consultant and trainer for Campuspeak, Inc. In his free time, Stan enjoys reading, working out, keeping up with his "little brother" Matthew and catching up with friends and family.

Curtis Tarver

Curtis Tarver grew up in Wilmington, Delaware and holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology with a minor in music from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County and a Master of Education degree in college student affairs from the University of South Florida. Prior to his position here at UNCG, Curtis was a graduate assistant with the Campus Activities Board at the University of South Florida. In the Office of Student Life, Curtis is responsible for advising the Campus Activities Board and the Elliott University Center's Game Room and Art Gallery.

Edwin Powell

Edwin Powell holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington and a Master of Science degree in Technical Communication from North Carolina State University. He has more than 20 years' experience in journalism, media, and publishing in a variety of settings. In the Office of Student Life, he is responsible for marketing, Web and graphic design, and supervises the Student Graphics Office. He also helps oversee student media and serves as his department's technology liason.

Nathan Olawsky grew up in South Dakota, received his Bachelor of Music from Saint Olaf College in Minnesota and his Master of Music from UNCG, both in clarinet performance. His fine arts education, combined with experience working summers in the ticket office for the Milwaukee Brewers MLB, led him to his current position as the Elliott University Center's Manager of Patron Services. Responsible for the EUC Information Desk as well as the University Box Office, Mr. Olawsky works to facilitate welcoming and positive experiences for patrons of the Elliott University Center, UNCG performing arts events and various student organization events. As a musician he teaches clarinet at Moore Music Company and has performed with groups such as The Raleigh Civic Symphony, the Winston-Salem Symphony and The Raleigh Ringers.
